Birthdays and Retirements...

Hi loves

60 Hearty Cheers!

On the 3rd of June this year my Dad turned 60 and retired simultaneously after 35 years of active service. Now anyone who knows me knows just how close my Dad and I are. I've quite frankly never met anyone like him. He is literally the most upright person i know. Honest and extremely humble. And I'm not saying this because he is my Dad.

Growing up I'm certain I must've thought my Dad was a professional photographer.  He was always taking my sister and i pictures.  I've carried on that behaviour to my own kids. Lol. There is always a camera in their face. He is a man that has never been ashamed to show his wife and children just how much we mean to him. I looked forward to getting married because I assumed all Husbands were like my dad. (Disclaimer... I'm not saying my SO is not oh... ehen) We moved around Nigeria alot and thanks to my Dad's job I've been to nearly all the states in Nigeria. Save for maybe 6 states? And because he was away from us alot he would find ways to bond. My Dad taught me letter writing because  he would make me write him letters about whatever was going on with me. One formal letter to him as an Officer and the other informal one as a Dad. I have so many fond memories of him and I wouldn't have it any other way.

So when his retirement beckoned, we decided as a Family to plan a birthday/ retirement thanksgiving and reception for him to honour him. I cannot tell you what great joy and pride it gave me to be able to celebrate my Father while he is alive and healthy and present to hear and see how much we truly love him.

And what an event it was... we first went to church... and being inside a Catholic Church after a few years gave me goosebumps... you never forget it . I loved mass and I took the First reading.

My parents Inside the Church....

Then we headed to the reception venue... it was so beautiful watching so many wonderful family and friends come out to celebrate my Father.  I had an awesome time and I am super thankful to God for giving my Daddy the grace of a life well lived and for me, the gift of an incredible caring Father.

My Daddy my friend...
My Dad and I danced so much.  It brought back memories of my wedding day dancing our daddy and daughter song. "Celebrate good times" by Cool and the gang. My Dad was quite the rocker and I'm certain that's where I got my love of music from...

Mommy of life!

Big Sis and I... ala aseobi
The Boo too was fully on ground...

See Babe... lol I was feeling myself.

My sleeping princess...  she slept through the entire thing after crying and getting me worked up.

All in all, it was a good day. And I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Abuja. Save for a few hitches here and there... but all is well that ends well...

The next morning... Leaving AbujašŸ˜¢šŸ˜Missing my Daddy already.

My prayers for my Dad are vast and infinite . However I constantly pray that he finds fulfillment every single day... that he lives to a fully ripe old age and that at the end, his crown will be waiting for him.
One of my favorite verses tells me that "But from everlasting to everlasting, the Lord's Love is upon those who fear him and His righteousness on their children's children. " this is a promise I hold on to.

My Father gave me the greatest gift a person could give another. He believed in me.
